Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade defects from PDP to APC.
The Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade has defected from the opposition party, the People Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party, the All progressive Party (APC). The Governor states that the defection is to be connected to the centre.
In his statement, Governor Ben Ayade lamented over the challenges the state is facing especially in the area of funds, infrastructural development and high rate of youth unemployment. Says the defection will bring the state to the same page with the federal government policies and programmes
Ayade stressed that his decision to move to APC is not a party matter, rather it should be seen as a character, honour and commitment to the vision of this great nation. He also urged other governors to join hands with the president to build a strong and committed country.
The Governor made this announcement on Thursday 20th May 2021 after a closed-door meeting (6) six APC governors and members of the National Assembly that visited him in the Government house this morning.
The governors that visited the Cross River state Government house includes Governor of Kebbi state, Imo State, Yobe State, Plateau State, Jigawa and Ekiti State.
